The Mazda Axela is the Japanese name for the Mazda3. The generation you will find at export prices is the third generation (2013–2019), sold as the Axela Sport hatchback and the Axela sedan. It is well built, handles well and feels more upmarket than most cars in its class.

A hybrid sedan also exists but is rare.

- PROACTIVE: adds Mazda's safety package (automatic braking and driver aids).
- L Package: leather seats and more luxury equipment.
- Listing names combine them, for example "Axela Sport 15XD PROACTIVE".
Diesel: Read This First
Mazda's SKYACTIV-D diesels are excellent, but they need low-sulphur diesel and regular longer drives. Short city trips only can clog the diesel particulate filter. If fuel quality where you live is poor, or the car will mostly do short trips, choose a petrol Axela.
What to Check
- Diesel (XD): ask about warning lights, smoke, or any note about the particulate filter.
- Front lower bumper: sits low. Check for scrapes.
- Safety sensors (PROACTIVE): windscreen or front-end repairs can affect them.

Age Limits: Which Countries Can Take One
Some countries cap the age of an imported car: Jamaica allows up to 5 years, Trinidad & Tobago 4 years, and Kenya and Guyana 8 years. The Bahamas, Barbados, Suriname, the Eastern Caribbean islands such as Saint Lucia and Antigua, Uganda and Tanzania have no strict age limit on our checker. Rules change, so always confirm with your clearing agent before you pay.
A 2018 or 2019 Axela can go to Kenya and Guyana. Older ones suit the no-limit markets.
