The Suzuki Every and the Suzuki Carry are the two small work vehicles people ask us about most. They share the same 660cc engine, the same small size and the same low shipping cost. The big difference is the back: the Every is a closed van, the Carry is an open pickup truck.
Here's how to choose.
The Short Answer
- Choose the Every (van) if your goods need to stay dry, clean or locked up: shop deliveries, parcels, tools, electronics, food.
- Choose the Carry (truck) if you carry bulky, heavy or dirty loads: building materials, farm produce, water tanks, furniture, scrap.
Side by Side
| Suzuki Every | Suzuki Carry | |
|---|---|---|
| Body | Closed van with sliding doors | Open flatbed with drop sides |
| Security | Lockable, goods out of sight | Open; needs a tarp or cage |
| Weather | Goods stay dry | Goods get wet without a cover |
| Tall or messy loads | Limited by the roof | Easy: load from three sides |
| Seats | 2 in front, plus a folding rear seat on most (4–5 total) | 2 only |
| Loading | From the back and the sliding doors | From the sides and the back, easy with a forklift |
| 4WD | Most of ours are 4WD | Most of ours are 4WD |
| Gearbox | Mostly automatic | Mostly manual |
Seats Matter More Than You Think
The Every can carry extra passengers when the rear seat is up, so it can do double duty: staff in the morning, cargo in the afternoon. The Carry is strictly a two-seater. If you ever need to move people, the Every wins.
Manual or Automatic?
Most of our Carrys are manual, and most of our Everys are automatic. A manual is simpler and often preferred for heavy work, and mechanics everywhere understand it. An automatic is easier in city traffic. If you need one or the other, tell us and we'll filter for it.
What to Check on Both
- Rust: underbody, the cargo floor (Every) or the bed and drop sides (Carry).
- Clutch (manual Carry): ask whether the inspector noted slipping.
- 4WD: check it's recorded on the auction sheet and export certificate.
- Mileage: both are work vehicles, so high numbers are normal. The auction grade matters more.
