Jamaica treats commercial vehicles differently from cars. Private cars can be up to 5 years old, but commercial vehicles like the Canter are limited to 4 years. That rules out most second-hand trucks on the market, but not ours: almost every Canter we list is a current, near-new truck that clears the limit with years to spare.
Why the Canter suits Jamaica
- Right-hand drive, like Jamaica's roads.
- 2- and 3-ton flatbeds and dumps cover construction, farm produce and delivery work.
- The low-floor versions make loading easier at markets and shops.
- Fuso has a long presence in the Caribbean, so parts and know-how are available.
Documents you'll need
Jamaica requires an Import Licence (apply before shipping), the Bill of Lading, Certificate of Origin, Commercial Invoice and a Tax Compliance Certificate. We supply the export certificate, invoice and bill of lading from Japan.
Shipping and clearance
The truck ships from Japan to Kingston Wharf. Customs duty, GCT and a Standard Compliance Fee are charged on the CIF value, so the delivered price below (truck plus freight) is the base your duty is calculated on. Ask a Jamaican customs broker for the exact rate for your truck's class before you order.
Price
The table at the bottom shows how many Canters qualify for Jamaica today and the cheapest delivered to Kingston, recalculated from live stock and freight.
