Trinidad and Tobago has one of the Caribbean's strictest age limits: private imports can be no more than 4 years old. That rules out most used vans, but the current Atrai (2021 on) is mostly 2022–2026 stock, so it qualifies.
Which Atrais qualify
In 2026, vans built in 2022 or later are within 4 years. The rule counts from manufacture, and we confirm the date from the chassis plate before you pay.
Why the Atrai suits T&T
- Right-hand drive, like Trinidad and Tobago.
- A compact van with a flat load floor, good for deliveries, small businesses and tradespeople in Port of Spain traffic.
- The RS turbo handles hills better than non-turbo kei vans; the 4WD version suits rough or wet roads.
Things to know
- Kei-van size: 660cc and compact. Not for heavy loads or long distances at high speed.
- Dealers vs private buyers: T&T applies extra restrictions to dealers; these notes are for private imports.
Inspection and clearance
Vehicles clear at the Port of Port of Spain and must pass a VIN and roadworthiness check on arrival. Duty and VAT are charged on the CIF value.
