The iQ (2008–2016) is a clever micro car: under 3 metres long, yet it seats three adults plus a child (a "3+1" layout) thanks to an off-set dashboard and compact engine bay.
The spec
- 1.0 three-cylinder (100G) or 1.3 four-cylinder (130G), CVT; a 6-speed manual on some 1.3s.
- A rare supercharged GRMN version was also built.
Who it suits
Very tight city streets and parking, short commutes, and buyers who want a small car with full-size safety (it was designed with 9 airbags).
What to check
- CVT smoothness.
- Rear seat space: only for short trips or small passengers.
- Tyres and parts: some sizes are less common. Check local availability.
