The Copen is a tiny two-seat roadster with an electric folding hard top. Daihatsu builds it; Toyota sells it as the Copen GR Sport, tuned by Toyota's GR division.
The spec
- 660cc three-cylinder turbo (kei class).
- CVT with paddle shifters, or a 5-speed manual.
- GR Sport adds stiffer bracing, retuned suspension, BBS wheels and Recaro seats.
Why buy one
Fun on twisty roads, very cheap to run, and it turns heads. It's a second car, not a family car: there are two seats and a small boot when the roof is down.
What to check
- Roof mechanism: a full open-close cycle on video.
- Seals and drains for leaks.
- Manual or CVT: the manual is more fun and usually holds value better.
Most of our Copens are recent, so they suit strict age limits as well as no-limit markets. The live table below shows which countries' age rules accept how many, and the cheapest delivered to each main port.
